Drill pack 01: don't let the total decide for you.
Five decisions. Take a few minutes: say your move and why, then reveal the answer. Count only answers you chose before opening the explanation. Choose a move below to score each decision. Opening an answer before choosing marks it as revealed, without a point. Your current attempt, chosen moves, completed answer review and first and latest scores save only in this browser. Return to finish or review where you left off. Choose Retry when you want to test yourself again.
Free sample published October 14, 2026. This is a sample of a possible weekly training format, not a promised release schedule or paid membership.
Use these rules for every hand: fresh six-deck shoe; dealer stands on all 17s, including soft 17; double on two cards; split pairs, with doubling after a split; no surrender. Choose hit, stand or double, and split when you have a pair.

1. Soft 18 against a ten
A♠ 7♥
Dealer shows 10♦. Choose your move before revealing.
Reveal the decision and reason
Hit. The ace can switch from 11 to 1, so one hit cannot bust this two-card hand. Against the ten, the coach prefers trying to improve over standing on 18. Reassess after the next card.
2. Soft 19 against a four
A♠ 8♥
Dealer shows 4♦. Choose your move before revealing.
Reveal the decision and reason
Stand. A soft total does not automatically mean hit or double. Here, keeping 19 ranks above doubling and hitting under the simulator’s stand-on-soft-17 rules.
3. Eights against a nine
8♠ 8♥
Dealer shows 9♦. Choose your move before revealing.
Reveal the decision and reason
Split. Two eights make hard 16. Splitting gives each eight a new starting hand. The coach ranks it above hit, stand and double here, although every available choice still loses on average.
4. Nines against a seven
9♠ 9♥
Dealer shows 7♦. Choose your move before revealing.
Reveal the decision and reason
Stand. Having a pair does not automatically mean split. Keeping 18 against the seven has a better average outcome in this model than turning it into two nine-starting hands.
5. Hard nine against a two
6♠ 3♥
Dealer shows 2♦. Choose your move before revealing.
Reveal the decision and reason
Hit. Doubling is tempting on nine, but the dealer’s two matters. In this model hitting narrowly outranks doubling. Unlike doubling, hitting leaves further decisions available.
Return practice: explain one changed decision
Tomorrow, close the answers and repeat these five decisions. Can you explain why the soft 18 calls for a hit but the soft 19 calls for a stand? Why split the eights but keep the nines? Use the retry button after completing all five to compare with your first score. Try again tomorrow before reading the explanations. Recalling an answer is useful practice, not proof of improved gambling results.
The game opens ordinary five-hand practice, not this exact pack. Its map also offers rotating authored master drills and weak-spot drills, plus scored retries of captured mistakes. Progress stays in your browser.
Would fresh weekly packs help you return?
We are researching a possible US$5/month offer with fresh weekly drill packs and mistake review. Nothing is for sale here. After trying this sample, tell us your first score out of five, which explanation was unclear, and whether the proposed monthly offer sounds interesting, uncertain or free-only. A reply is feedback, not a signup or purchase.
Opening a draft does not submit it. GitHub receives the draft text in the link when opened; it may remain in browser history. Submit there only if you want it public. Email shares your email address when you send. You can also copy this text into the feedback thread below.
Written with AI assistance; each answer checked against Poker Gym’s current simulator coach. Its hit search uses fixed remaining-rank weights and a bounded continuation search.
